Generally, the harm of foam in power plants' flue gas desulfurization can be summarized as follows:

(1) In the absorption tower of the desulfurization process of the power plant, foam appears during the washing process of limestone slurry, resulting in ash accumulation at the entrance of the absorption tower.

(2) Foam can lead to an increase in surface tension, causing the liquid level in the tower to become too high and the slurry to overflow. Even increase the loss of raw materials.

(3) After the foam is produced, the heat exchanger will scale and block.

(4) Foam affects the desulfurization effect of power plants.

(5) Foam will increase the desulfurization costs and decrease the desulfurization efficiency.

The main causes of foaming in flue gas desulfurization in power plants are:

(1) There are many kinds of auxiliaries. They have chemical reactions with each other to cause foaming.

(2) Stirring during production, shaking or vibration in the equipment will lead to foam.

(3) As the bottom slurry disturbance pump pulse disturbance or agitator stir. It leads to the generation of foam.

(4) The increase of heavy metal ions causes the surface tension of the slurry to increase. It is also a reason for the formation of foam.

(5) If the site environment does not meet the production requirements. It will also cause foaming.
